My Relationship Is Falling Apart – Help!

Have you ever gotten up in the morning with that feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach? Many of us have had that feeling at one time or the other at some point of the other in our lives but what keeps us going is knowing that there is a loved one waiting for you. However, what if the sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach is due to the very person who is supposed to make you feel better? This sounds awful but it could happen to anyone. When this happens,  the worst part is you find yourself passing judgment on yourself.

It is a fact of life that when others judge you for anything and you see the judgment in their eyes, it feels awful. However, when you look into the mirror and you see the judgment reflected back at you, then it feels really awful. Having said all this, the first thing you need to realize is that many relationships go through rough patches and this feels as if things are falling apart and you want to run away from the very person you are supposed to love. Know that this happens and there is nothing to be ashamed of when this happens. In fact, it is known to have happened to the so called ideal relationships.

The first thing that you need to do is stop jumping to conclusions and ensure that you are thinking in a rational manner. The irony of life is that the moment you feel rational thought slipping away from you is the very time that you need it most. However, our advice is to calm yourself down and think about what is going wrong.

There Could Be Several Things That Caused The Problem, Some Of Which We Are Giving Here:

A relationship could be falling apart due to some major event: A death in the near family is a major event and this can affect different family members in different ways. Or something like a divorce for someone who is close to you or your partner can make one of you or both of you withdraw. The thing is such thing leave their impression on you and affect you in ways you are not aware of. The change may be something that you are not aware of but it could be one of the factors that could be affecting the balance of the relationship and making things fall apart.

A relationship could be falling apart due to career related stress: We all work and this can be a major stress factor in our lives. Just imagine this; what if you had a boss who made your life miserable? One who made you feel like a creep all the time? Or that there are changes in the job front that you are not able to handle? All these and more could be factors that are pain points in your career or this could be the scenario with your partner. This could result in a situation where you feel as though the relationship coming apart at the seams. If you are going through the career related stress, then you could feel that your partner does not understand what you are going through. If your partner is going through something like this, then he or she could be feeling that way.

A relationship could be falling apart due to illnesses in the family: A major illness in the near family circle can be a reason why the whole family or relationship dynamics have changed. The whole sick person, the therapy and the medical treatments scene can take its toll on the most positive person. Something like this can make any relationship stressed out and feel as if things are falling apart. This can affect each and everyone of the family members and one cannot even imagine how the relationship shapes up.

The thing you need to do when you feel your relationship is falling apart is to take a step back and think about what is affecting the balance. If after a lot of thinking and talking, you still feel that there is no valid reason for the relationship to fall apart, then you have to consider that maybe things are not going to work out. However, before you do that, you need to think about your role in the whole relationship and the way things have changed. If you feel that some steps can be taken to make things better, then you should start with small steps like setting some private time for you to spend as a couple.

Only after you have done some of the basic stuff, should you move to things like trying out things to do to keep the romance alive in your relationship, not before that.
